Aarø and Aarøsund

The quaint old harbour town of Aarøsund nestles on the Little Belt coast. There are white sandy beaches to the north and south.

You can stroll at the yacht harbour, and enjoy lunch, an ice cream or dinner at the elegant, authentically restored Aarøsund Badehotel (beach hotel), oozing with the carefree ambience of the 1930s. The hotel’s veranda is right on the beach. Gammelbro Camping (camp site) lies on the coast to the south of the town. You can swim, fish, dive, snorkel and surf here. The camp site’s swimming pool is open to the public (even if you are not staying at the camp site).

The ferry crossing to Aarø island takes just under seven minutes. Visit the island’s winery and enjoy a cool glass of white wine. Taste ale from Denmark’s smallest micro-brewery and learn about life on Aarø in the old days. Drop in at the Christmas Church and historical Brummers Gaard (farm). Do you fancy a beach safari? Explore Aarø’s amazing nature reserve and end your day at Aarø’s Perle (restaurant), which serves delicious fresh fried fish.
